I am an attorney at the Erickson Law Group, PC. My practice focuses on intellectual property and technology matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and technology contracting. I assist clients in developing and implementing intellectual property protection strategies, understanding the scope of intellectual property rights, and navigating intellectual property risk.

My litigation experience includes representing clients in patent, trademark, and copyright infringement matters in court. I represent clients in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

My patent prosecution practice includes drafting and prosecuting utility patent applications across a range of subject areas, including computer science, electrical engineering, medical devices, mechanical engineering, and consumer products. I also draft and prosecute design patent applications. In addition, I provide patent novelty, freedom-to-operate, and non-infringement opinions. I supervise foreign patent filings and work with foreign associates on foreign patent prosecution and protection.

My trademark practice includes counseling clients on brand protection strategies, trademark infringement risk, and anti-counterfeiting measures. I file and prosecute trademark applications and supervise foreign trademark filings, prosecution, and maintenance.

I draft and negotiate policies, service terms, licenses, and contracts involving technology and intellectual property, including matters related to SaaS, e-commerce, the Internet, and computer science. I also advise companies and corporate counsel on intellectual property matters in connection with mergers and acquisitions.

I advise on copyright scope and protection for a range of creative works. I also assist clients in pursuing copyright registrations and in copyright enforcement and defense matters.

I graduated magna cum laude from Southern Illinois University School of Law where I served as an articles editor on the Southern Illinois University Law Journal. While in law school, I served as Vice President of the Graduate and Professional Student Council, I also served on the City of Carbondale Liquor Advisory Board and on the SIU Ombudsman Advisory Panel. Further, I worked as a law clerk in the Illinois Attorney General’s Office focusing on consumer protection issues.

After law school, I worked as a staff attorney for the judges of the Eighteenth Circuit Court of Illinois. While at the court, I advised judges on cases involving civil, criminal, domestic relations, and juvenile law. I am admitted to practice law in Illinois, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
