About

I am a registered patent attorney at the Erickson Law Group, PC

I served in a leadership position on the Internet and Computer Law Subcommittee of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Intellectual Property Section Council. I am the past chairman of the Intellectual Property Committee of the DuPage County Bar Association. I was the 2011-12 Editor-in-Chief of DuPage County Bar Association’s scholarly legal journal, The Brief.

I graduated from Southern Illinois University with a B.S. majoring in computer science, and minoring in math and business. My technical studies and experience in the computer science field include algorithm theory, semiconductor design, digital logic design, object-oriented programming, operating systems, database systems, and computer networks. Before attending law school, I was a SAP Basis Administrator for a fortune 500 company where I designed a network-wide computer security architecture, swapped servers while maintaining system availability, analyzed system performance, and implemented performance enhancements.

I also have practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems. My father is an automotive technology instructor. For as far back as I can remember I’ve been working on cars. This covers much more than just simple tinkering. I restored a 1979 Pontiac Firebird with a 400 cubic inch V8 engine. I have rebuilt most of the major components of an automobile, and I’ve worked on virtually every system including the suspension, braking, fuel, powertrain, drivetrain, computer, and electrical systems.

I graduated magna cum laude from Southern Illinois University School of Law where I served as an articles editor on the Southern Illinois University Law Journal. While in law school, I served as Vice President of the Graduate and Professional Student Council, I also served on the City of Carbondale Liquor Advisory Board and on the SIU Ombudsman Advisory Panel. Further, I worked as a law clerk in the Illinois Attorney General’s Office focusing on consumer protection issues.

After law school, I worked as a staff attorney for the judges of the Eighteenth Circuit Court of Illinois. While at the court, I advised judges on cases involving civil, criminal, domestic relations, and juvenile law. I am admitted to practice law in Illinois, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
